Hi Everyone,
Brett has been home for three weeks. It's taken about that long for me to have time to put more than three sentences together. It has been a rollercoaster of emotion-so very excited Brett is home, so overwhelmed with all the changes at home, so many day to day interactions that were missed while he was in the hospital, which are precious to see, and all the frustrations of things that are "out of reach" for the time being.
We have laughed and cried, modified plans, and treasured the moments together. The kids have quickly established roles in the care of their Daddy. It's funny to see them organize and direct Brett into the elevator, the little quibbles about where to stand and how to keep their toys and shoes out of the path of the wheelchair. Maggie Dog now sneaks upstairs and sleeps on the floor at Brett's side of the bed.
We are still working out details to purchase a van, yes, as is minivan, that is wheelchair accessible. In the meantime, we are pretty limited on travel away from home, other than where Brett can roll around the neighborhood. He takes a wheelchair accessible cab to his physical therapy 2-3 times a week. And, we are trying to limit exposure to illness, so hanging out at home, entertaining small groups is more of the norm these days.
Favorite Uncle Leon was here for a visit last weekend. He asked for a To Do List while he was here, and I think he was pleasantly surprised to see my double sided list, with supplies provided. He worked non stop and fixed, patched and drilled all sorts of things. I have started another list for next time he visits! :)
A very heartfelt thank you to all the welcome home wishes, we love to hear from you all. Brett is hoping to start to post updates soon.
Much Love~Kelly
PS I have posted a number of new pictures.

I have been following your blog, and wanted you to know there are people praying for your family in Minnesota. Your children are so beautiful! They remind me of you (Kelly) and Keko when your were little. I keep hoping I will be able to visit and play with the kids!

Brett and Family:
ReplyDeleteYou continue to be in our prayers! I had a nice visit with Sharon Nicklin to hear of your updates. She loves you so much; your call to her Brett recently left her glowing.
Take care and know that so many people do care. We hope you see miracles each day!
Oh, you probably heard, but Selah beat Prosser. I thought of your Dad; I'm sure he was smiling down; maybe he had a part in it!
Again, take care and our best to your family.
