If it tingles...

The loose thought we hear often is "If it tingles, it likely can be strengthened."

There is a man, Jerry Moore that has made the trek from Evergreen each day to Craig Hospital. He and Brett have been as close as family for years. They have a rich story about wrestling officiating, and more importantly, a deep respect for each other. Jerry was the oldest man in our wedding party (shining in a tux at the spry age of 64).

When Jerry saw Brett raise his left hand from his wheelchair today and move it around, he stopped in his tracks. "Show me that again" he said. He walked past our "curtain" and told the family sharing a room with us that Brett could raise his arm. He borrowed my cell phone to call his wife and tell her the news. After he fed Brett his wife Rosalie's fantastic spaghetti and meatballs, he left with a spring in his step and a grin on his face.

Brett is gently regaining sensation and some movement in his arms.   And very recently, some sensation in a couple of fingers on each hand.

Baby steps, but steps in the right direction. Hang with us, today was full of pain, like he hasn't had for days.  Two steps forward, one step back and always looking forward to the next milestone.

All my love~Kelly

Hey Purdom- it's Jane. I have been reading all of this since last Wednesday. I was at Sports Medicine and heard the news.

Your Jesus freak has been praying for you and your family. I am so happy to hear Kelly and the kiddos are ok. I would love to meet all of them. You have a beautiful family.

I called Kara. We are going to come see you soon. Wanted to let you settle in. (that is an oxymoron...Brett, settle. They do not coincide!)

My heart and prayers are with you. I am so encouraged to hear of the movement.

Kelly, you sound like an awesome lady, wife and mom. Hang in there girl. Your doing a great job also!!

    All my love,

Hi Brett and Kelly - Sounds like great progress, though I'm sure you're impatient for things to move along faster. I wanted to tell you about a book you might like. It's called Perfect Health, by Deepak Chopra. He talks about Ayurveda and the intelligence of the whole body to heal itself. It's actually a pretty fascinating book, along with several of his others, and his own background is as a medical doctor so he bridges both worlds. There is a Chopra center in Westminster, so if anything he talks about interests you, there's a local center to access ayurvedic doctors.

Hugs to you both, Kathy and Jay

    Purd~

Have spent my morning here catching up on your amazing progress and again enjoying the pictures! Glad to hear your surgery went well and that you are back at Craigs. It is no surprise to me that you have "created" a following-I laughed out loud reading Mack's blog and his description of your "study" habits back at WAZZU and your behaviors in the library... I of course had to think about the FAMOUS WALL you and Reid had at Owen Science.....I am not going disclose the details as I recognize there are those who might hold you in a "Freakish" state of regard and I wouldn't want them to loose repsect for you and or really my loving husband Reid! :)) But I am sure it will bring a smile to your face to think back on it :))

We think of you every day Purd!! Wish we were closer to you~~ but sending great, positive thoughts and energy your way and Kelly's and the kiddos :))

A great quote I have on my desk that fits your situation perfectly:

"CHANCE FAVORS THOSE IN MOTION" James H. Austin

KEEP on tingling, jingling, and movin Purd!

    Lots of love--- Marty
